Collision Resolution

Manual collision resolution

Manual collision resolution allows users to resolve any conflict. Once a collision occurs in the cloud, a "Need User Action" message appears. The user can then perform one of the following options:

  • Rename the current version: The original file from the cloud will be downloaded and the local copy renamed. As a result you get two files, the original file “filename” and the local copy with a modified name “filename_collision”.
  • Discard the current version: The original file will be downloaded and the local copy discarded without saving the changes.
  • Open the folder: The folder the file is stored in will be opened so you can see the file before deciding on one of the options above.

Please note: Manual collision resolution is suggested and set by default. For file servers or devices that do not have users, but constantly synchronize, this setting can be changed. For more information on enabling or disabling this setting, see the "Disabling manual collision resolution" section below.

You can identify a collision by noticing an icon with an exclamation mark. It occurs when either a file requires collision resolution or a locked file is being edited.

  1. Click on the task bar symbol to she a user action.
  2. Click on the option “Change user link”. The window “action” appears. Choose how you want to resolve the collision. You can also select “later” to resolve the collision another time.
